About this route

Start your journey in the heart of Rzeszów, near the Lubomirski Castle. During the 38-kilometre trip, you will encounter two more significant ascents. Most of the way will take you through the smaller suburbs surrounding Rzeszów. The former mansions of the aristocracy, passed along the way, will give you a deeper insight into the former architecture. The route is a loop, so you will return to your starting point after an almost 5-hour journey.

Practical advices

When preparing for a route, be sure to check the weather forecast. This will allow you to take appropriate clothing and limit your luggage as much as possible. However, it is well known that the weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared if it gets worse. It is good practice to pack a thin rain jacket that does not take up much space.

Before starting the route, carefully analyse it on a map. Consider whether your skills and equipment are adequate for the level of difficulty of the route.

Download the accompanying .gpx file so that you always have your navigation at hand. To make sure your device doesn't fail you, also bring a power bank, charger or spare batteries. If the weather changes, you may find it useful to have a waterproof case for your electronic equipment.

Be sure to take drinks and food with you on long journeys; you never know when you will get hungry. Remember that a shop or restaurant may be located a long way away. We recommend that you stock up on water, isotonic drinks, energy bars and snacks. This will make sure you don't lose the motivation to continue riding.

The absolute basis for safety is, of course, a helmet. Also, prepare yourself technically. Make sure you have adequate lighting on your bike. Pack a repair kit. Spare inner tubes, a pump, a multitool, all of these things can come in handy in the event of a breakdown, which of course you don't want!

Before you set off on a trip around Rzeszów, visit these two important points on the map.

The first is the Lubomirski Castle in Rzeszów, located at Śreniawitów Square.  The beginning of construction of this historic building dates back to the 17th century. The initiator of the creation of the castle was Mikołaj Spytek Ligęza. Later, the Lubomirski family took possession of the building. After the Partitions of Poland, the castle was turned into a prison and served this function until 1981.

The second attraction is the Lubomirski Summer Palace, located on Jan Dekerta Street. The building was erected in the 1790s. It is an example of late baroque architecture. It used to be a place where the Lubomirski family could indulge in leisure activities or stroll in the magnificent French-style garden. Today, the residence is owned by the District Medical Chamber.

After the sightseeing, cross the bridge over the Wisłok River (Zamkowy Bridge) and then follow the signs of the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo along Kopisto and Rejtana avenues. At the crossroads, turn into Niepodległości Avenue (national road no. 94). Then turn right into Paderewskiego St. You will pass through three different Rzeszów housing estates.

One of the most famous places in Tyczyn is the palace and park complex. It consists of a granary, an outbuilding, a palace, stables and, of course, a park. The most impressive part of the complex is the palace erected for the Wodecki family between 1862 and 1869. Over the years it has undergone many reconstructions, but the exterior of the building, described as eclectic, has been preserved to this day. After World War II, the palace was adapted as a school. The building is located on Parkowa Street. After resting for a while, return along Grunwaldzka Street and then into Market Square and Mickiewicza Street.
