Practical advices

A route with a moderate level of difficulty will allow you to test your fitness. Remember that the terrain has a huge impact on how many kilometres you can cover. Trails on flat roads are less strenuous than those on hills or mountain roads.

Planning a group trip? Match the route to the fitness of the weakest participant.

A helmet and light clothing made of breathable materials will be essential for safety and comfort on the route. Other than that, only put on the essentials. Heavy luggage will make your ride more difficult. Also, think about what you will carry the necessary items in. We suggest a backpack or panniers for your bike.

Be prepared for possible breakdowns on the route. It is a good idea to carry the most important tools for a quick fix, such as inner tubes or patches, a pump or a multi-tool. Make sure you have enough water and food, as well as navigation equipment.

Is it looking like a warm and sunny day? Remember sunscreen and sunglasses. If you are planning sightseeing or other activities along the route, a bike lock will also be very useful. Before you leave, carefully examine your route for the trip. Consider whether your skills and equipment are adequate for the level of difficulty of the route.

It is time to start your cycling adventure through the nooks and crannies of the Janów Forest Landscape Park. In Rzeczyca Długa at the forest car park, there is a rest area with a canopy and shelters - we suggest starting your ride from here. You can park your car here. You will also find an interesting bas-relief of St. Hubert on site. From here, head east along the Pysznica commune cycle route.

After three kilometres, turn left and follow the green trail until you reach a car park and a chapel by the red PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society) hiking trail. Turn right here.

Follow the red trail as far as the memorial plaque describing the fight of the "Ojciec Jan" Home Army units against the German occupiers.

Goliszowiec is a small village situated on the southern edge of the Janów Forest complex. In September 1942, an SS unit pacified the village. Some of the inhabitants managed to take refuge in the nearby forest, and only the elderly and children remained in their homes. The Germans then murdered 41 people, and the village was completely burnt down.

    Kochany

A village with an interesting history. Its origins date back to the 18th century. The village is the former property of the Lubomirski family. During World War II, it was a base for partisans.

In addition, along the way, you can visit the Live Museum of Polish Villages and Crafts, where you will find old buildings with faithfully reproduced elements of equipment (including old machines and devices). A mini zoo also operates here. This is an educational site, with an offer aimed mainly at organised groups. There is also a memorial to partisan battles.

Follow the gravel road along the distinctive fence to the 16.6 km of the route, then turn right. You will reach fire road no. 23; here, head left. After about 2 km, turn south onto a forest road that will take you to the village of Szwedy.

From here, navigation should be easier. Continue to follow the signs of the yellow cycle trail. Turn right. On the way, you will pass the hamlet of Madeje and then enter the forest. Continue along the sandy road until you reach a junction with signs. Turn left onto the gravel road and head through Jastkowice to Rzeczyca Długa.
