About this route

The route ahead of you is fairly easy. It runs entirely on asphalt roads with minor inclinations. This route is great if you don't enjoy cycling on woodland trails. However, be aware that the route leads along busy roads. For this reason, we do not recommend it for a trip with children. The sanctuary in Stara Wieś and the UNESCO-listed church in Blizne are two the most fascinating locations on the map of this journey, which are waiting to be discovered by you.

    Brzozów, market square

We suggest starting from the market square in Brzozów. Setting off from this point, you have the opportunity to first stroll along its quiet streets and then visit the Regional Museum, housed in a neoclassical building erected at the end of the 19th century.

Further on, the route will take you along regional road no. 886 north before turning left into Gen. Bema Street. At the crossroads, turn right and again reach regional road no. 886, where the magnificent sanctuary in Stara Wieś is located.

    Stara Wieś

In Stara Wieś, on regional road no. 886, there is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Stara Wieś. The building dates back to the 18th century. A chapel of worship for the Mother of God houses the Dormition and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary statue that was brought from Humenné (today’s Slovakia). Nowadays, the main altar has a duplicate of the original, which was destroyed by fire.

After exploring the site, return along the same road, crossing the junction straight ahead. On the route towards Orzechówka, you will face minor ascents and descents.

In Jasienica Rosielna you will reach the wooden Church of Of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. What distinguishes it from other churches is the fact that it looks almost identical to the day it was built in 1770. Another distinctive characteristic of brick construction is the two-towered western facade. 19th-century polychromes are among the items found inside.

When you reach an intersection, turn right. Here on the right side, you will find a park with a pond and columns, which are the remains of a manor house. After 700 m, turn right and then take the first asphalt road to the left. Follow regional road no. 886 southeast to reach the charming wooden church in Blizne

    Blizne
    15.7 km
    Blizne

Undoubtedly, the major attraction of the trip is the Church of All Saints in Blizne, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003. A late Renaissance pulpit from the early 17th century, a main altar from the 1700s, or a baptismal font from the 18th are among the things which impress with its rich interior. Of course, the church’s stunning exterior, which displays the Gothic design from the 15th century, deserves to be mentioned as well.

Return to the point you came from (approx. 800 m), then turn left. Ahead of you is a straight (approx. 5 km) section leading among the village buildings to the next junction. Here, head straight on. Continue along the familiar road leading to the market square in Brzozów.
