About this route

If you're looking for a straightforward route with low elevation, a loop through towns near the Polish-Ukrainian border will suit you. You will start in Horyniec-Zdrój - a place famous for its spa with healing mud, often called "black gold". The highlight of the trip will be the tserkva complex in Radruż. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will continue through the charming villages of the Podkarpackie region, partly along the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo. As the route from Basznia Dolna to Horyniec-Zdrój leads through a regional road, it is not recommended for families with small children due to the heavy traffic.

You can leave your car at the car park on Mickiewicza Street. It is located near the pedestrian underpass under the railway tracks.

Your cycling adventure begins in Horyniec-Zdrój. However, before you set off on your journey, it is worth staying in this village. What is worth knowing about this place? It is famous for its spa, which has the best resources of mud in Poland. Its therapeutic properties were discovered by Jan III Sobiecki, while the mud deposits themselves were promoted by the Poniński family. The family left behind a palace here, which now serves as the "Bajka" sanatorium, a theatre, a manorial chapel, and a mausoleum. Horyniec-Zdrój itself only gained the status of a spa in 1976.

    Now head towards Radruż.

A must-see on this route is Radruż, where you can see the Tserkva Complex, rated as one of the most beautiful in Poland. It dates back to the 16th century and includes, among others, the wooden Tserkva of St Paraskeva. Inside it, you will find a historic iconostasis and a figural-ornamental polychrome. Since 2013, the church has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is rated as the oldest and most valuable monument of sacral wooden architecture in Poland.

The temple can be visited with a guide. A normal ticket costs 10 PLN, while a reduced ticket costs 7 PLN. However, on Mondays, the object can be seen for free. Entrance to the church takes place at specific times, which are listed on the official website of the Tserkva Complex in Radruż.
