About this route
If you're looking for a straightforward route with low elevation, a loop through towns near the Polish-Ukrainian border will suit you. You will start in Horyniec-Zdrój - a place famous for its spa with healing mud, often called "black gold". The highlight of the trip will be the tserkva complex in Radruż. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will continue through the charming villages of the Podkarpackie region, partly along the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo. As the route from Basznia Dolna to Horyniec-Zdrój leads through a regional road, it is not recommended for families with small children due to the heavy traffic.
You can leave your car at the car park on Mickiewicza Street. It is located near the pedestrian underpass under the railway tracks.
Practical advices
Although this route is not demanding, it is worth preparing for it properly, so that nothing surprises you at any point. Start with the most important thing, which is your helmet. A good helmet is essential for your safety. Take care also of proper lighting, both front and rear. In addition to bike lights, equip your bike with reflectors so that you are highly visible on the road.
What else is worth taking with you on a trip? Make sure to pack a sweatshirt or a rail jacket in your backpack, in case the weather changes. It is also a good idea to bring snacks to give you energy during the trip. Protein bars or energy mousses work well.
If you plan to take visit the attractions along the route, you will need to leave your bike behind in some places. To make sure it is still there after the tour, be sure to bring a bike safety device such as a U-Lock or any bicycle lock.

Your cycling adventure begins in Horyniec-Zdrój. However, before you set off on your journey, it is worth staying in this village. What is worth knowing about this place? It is famous for its spa, which has the best resources of mud in Poland. Its therapeutic properties were discovered by Jan III Sobiecki, while the mud deposits themselves were promoted by the Poniński family. The family left behind a palace here, which now serves as the "Bajka" sanatorium, a theatre, a manorial chapel, and a mausoleum. Horyniec-Zdrój itself only gained the status of a spa in 1976.
Now head towards Radruż.

A must-see on this route is Radruż, where you can see the Tserkva Complex, rated as one of the most beautiful in Poland. It dates back to the 16th century and includes, among others, the wooden Tserkva of St Paraskeva. Inside it, you will find a historic iconostasis and a figural-ornamental polychrome. Since 2013, the church has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is rated as the oldest and most valuable monument of sacral wooden architecture in Poland.
The temple can be visited with a guide. A normal ticket costs 10 PLN, while a reduced ticket costs 7 PLN. However, on Mondays, the object can be seen for free. Entrance to the church takes place at specific times, which are listed on the official website of the Tserkva Complex in Radruż.Now, all the way to Huta Kryształowa, follow the signposting of the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo.

A section of this road leads through the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo. Here you will find a MOR (Biker Service Area) point where you can rest and recuperate before continuing your journey. The tourist shed is located on a charming lime tree alley.
Continue in the direction of Basznia Górna.

Regional road no. 867 is just over a kilometre away. At the intersection with it, turn right.

You will now travel to Horyniec-Zdrój along regional road no. 867. It is still worth taking a short break in the centre of the village. There you can visit a small park with recreational infrastructure, a mini-bath and a spring. You will get there via a trellis planted with roses.
When you reach a bifurcation of roads, turn right, remaining on the regional road.

At the end of the trip, we recommend going to the centre of Horyniec-Zdrój again. Here, it is worth taking a rest in the spa park. It was established in the 1930s but was destroyed during World War II. It was renovated only in the 2nd decade of the 21st century. Here you will find many walking paths, which lead, among other things, over wooden piers. You can also relax here by the fountains, the amphitheatre or the mineral water pump room.
