Practical advices

A route with a moderate level of difficulty will allow you to test your fitness. Remember that the terrain has a huge impact on how many kilometres you can cover. Trails on flat roads are less strenuous than those on hills or mountain roads.

Planning a group trip? Match the route to the fitness of the weakest participant.

A helmet and light clothing made of breathable materials will be essential for safety and comfort on the route. Other than that, only put on the essentials. Heavy luggage will make your ride more difficult. Also, think about what you will carry the necessary items in. We suggest a backpack or panniers for your bike.

Be prepared for possible breakdowns on the route. It is a good idea to carry the most important tools for a quick fix, such as inner tubes or patches, a pump or a multi-tool. Make sure you have enough water and food, as well as navigation equipment.

Is it looking like a warm and sunny day? Remember sunscreen and sunglasses. If you are planning sightseeing or other activities along the route, a bike lock will also be very useful. Before you leave, carefully examine your route for the trip. Consider whether your skills and equipment are adequate for the level of difficulty of the route.

Leaving the village, drive as far as the crossroads where you will see a car park. There is also a rest area here. Turn left and then after about 2.5 km turn right, following the red hiking trail. On the way to Gwizdów, it is worth deviating from the trail for a bit and turning off into the Janikowskie Góry area. You will pass century-old trees that are natural monuments. You can also see the grave of the victims of Nazism, the inhabitants who were murdered here on 22nd October 1943. Take the same route back to the earlier road. Nearby, on your right, you will see another monument that testifies to the warfare in this area. It is worth stopping for a moment of reflection at the monument to the struggles of the partisans of the Home Army.

Now head along the sandy road among the extensive ponds. Along the way, you will pass shelters where you can rest.

An Educational trail starts in the forested area of Gwizdów and leads through the Imielty Ług reserve. This reserve covers more than 800 ha. It includes peat bogs, marshes, overgrown ponds and swamp forests. Imielty Ług has many natural and landscape qualities. The bog can be accessed via a wooden walkway and there is a viewing platform on the Duża Grępa dune surrounded by the bog, where birds can be observed. The attractiveness and value of the reserve are indicated on the boards with maps on them.

Unfortunately, the area is not open to the public, but the monumental trees can be seen at its boundary, just by the roadside.

While in Jastkowice, follow the orange signs of the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo, which will lead you straight to Rzeczyca Długa. At the junction of the road with regional road no. 855 in Musikowo, turn right onto the regional road and at the next junction go right again.
