Route with a tour of the Castle in Łańcut

About this route
This tour is a real treat for sightseeing enthusiasts. The main attraction on the route is the Castle in Łańcut, one of the most beautiful aristocratic residences in Poland, as well as the picturesque park that surrounds it. It is a must-see on the tourist map of the area. In addition, there is a viewpoint, two wooden churches and a memorial place on the route.
The road partly follows the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo. It runs mainly along asphalt roads in forest-free areas.
Practical advices
A route with a moderate level of difficulty will allow you to test your fitness. Remember that the terrain has a huge impact on how many kilometres you can cover. Trails on flat roads are less strenuous than those on hills or mountain roads.

A helmet and light clothing made of breathable materials will be essential for safety and comfort on the route. Other than that, only put on the essentials. Be prepared for possible breakdowns on the route. It is a good idea to carry the most important tools for a quick fix, such as inner tubes or patches, a pump or a multi-tool. Make sure you have enough water and food, as well as navigation equipment.
Is it looking like a warm and sunny day? Remember sunscreen and sunglasses. If you are planning sightseeing or other activities along the route, a bike lock will also be very useful. Before you leave, carefully examine your route for the trip. Consider whether your skills and equipment are adequate for the level of difficulty of the route.

It's time to begin your bike journey! You begin in Łańcut, at the Municipal Sports and Recreation Center's parking lot, where there is also a MOR point (Biker Service Area).
Follow the winding roads northward. At this stage, you will be guided by the signs of the East of Poland Cycling Trail Green Velo. When you reach the main road, turn right. You will be accompanied by orange trail signs for over 5km.

Turn right towards Kosina before the cemetery in Białobrzegi.

If you want to see this place in Kosina, turn right onto a gravel road before the railway tracks. This will lead you to the obelisk at the birthplace of Colonel Leopold Lis-Kula.
Here, on 11 November 1896, Leopold Lis-Kula was born and later lived. He was one of the heroes fighting for Poland's independence, who died at the age of just 23.
You will return to the main route via the same road. Cross the railway tracks and continue straight ahead until you reach the national road.

At the intersection with the country road, turn left. After a while, leave it by turning into the second lane to the right.
It is time for the next stop on the route. In Kosina, you will find the wooden church of St Sebastian. Built in 1737, it impresses with its rich 18th-century polychrome. You will reach it after driving about 1 km.
From here, head west. You will initially take the asphalt road and then ascend on a dirt road to Lotnisko Hill.

Continue downhill towards the cemetery in Sonina.

The next stop on the route will be the 17th-century wooden church located in Sonina. Its patron saint is St John the Baptist. In its interior, there are three baroque altars.
You will reach this place by turning left before the Sawa stream and then right (just before the school building). When you reach the regional road no. 881, turn right. Cross the national road no. 94.

You are approaching the starting point. You will be driving along the extensive castle park in Łańcut. The castle itself is one of the most valuable aristocratic residences in Poland. The former Lubomirski residence is famous for its exquisite interiors and historic collection of horse-drawn vehicles. It is surrounded by a picturesque English-style park. In the town centre, you will also find establishments serving lunch or delicious ice cream.
Łańcut is an ideal place to relax or to spend time - walking or sightseeing.
