To feel the spirit of the Bieszczady, you simply have to go there!

The green heart of Podkarpackie

A region located in southeastern Poland. An area of mountain and foothill character, dominated by forests. The Bieszczady is the lowest range of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains, stretching over three countries, Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia. Within the borders of our country are the Western Bieszczady, where the highest peak is Tarnica.

However, it is worth remembering that the Bieszczady Mountains are not only mountain peaks and beautiful meadows. Once developed and densely inhabited, today somewhat desolate and, at times, wild. A place where nature blends with culture and forgotten history. They offer a range of activities that will make you fully appreciate the atmosphere of this region. In addition to hiking, you can also explore the many trails on horseback or by bicycle.

Wildlife, rich history and breathtaking views

Feel the wildness of nature

Regardless of how you plan to spend your time in the Bieszczady Mountains, you are sure to experience contact with nature. More than 70% of the region's area is covered by forests, dominated mainly by beeches and firs. The Bieszczady are home to many species of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

It is also where you will find the Bieszczady National Park, existing since 1973. Its area covers mainly mountain parts of the Polish part of the Western Bieszczady Mountains. Almost the entire area is beech forests, which are enriched with rare alpine plants. It is also a place where many animal species can be found in their natural habitat. The real inhabitants of the Bieszczady forests include deer, roe deer, wild boar, bison or wolves. However, a characteristic animal is a lynx, which is also on the park's crest.

In the Bieszczady National Park, you can see spectacular places, experience untamed nature and relax among breathtaking wildlife.

The land is a blend of culinary flavours, originating from the Boykos and Lemkos; the former inhabitants of these lands. Fuczki, Gołąbki with potatoes, Proziaki and high-quality venison are just a few of the delicious dishes you can eat here. You will find them in atmospheric restaurants.

Besides the culinary sensations, you can also seek cultural experiences in the Bieszczady villages. In Sanok, you will find the Museum of Folk Architecture and the Historical Museum with a gallery of works by Zdzisław Beksiński. In Zagórz, on the other hand, there are the ruins of the Discalced Carmelite Monastery. You can also visit Polańczyk, which is the largest spa and holiday resort here.
