Tserkva converted into a church

Former wooden Greek-Catholic tserkva of the St Michael the Archangel in Brzegi Dolne

The log, tripartite and oriented construction of this church is typical of Greek Catholic churches, as is the use of onion-shaped domes on the roof. These are traditional elements for the eastern factions of Christianity. The church was built in 1844 and has been well maintained and renovated on average every 20 years. Unfortunately, after the denomination was outlawed in the 1950s, it was used as a fertiliser warehouse, which caused considerable damage. It was not until the building was taken over by the Catholic Church in 1973 that a major restoration took place with polychrome preservation. Although all the furnishings were lost, figures were brought in from other locations. The interior, however, does not have a typical tserkva character.
