The Baroque splendour of the Counter-Reformation

Church of St Nicholas in Tyrawa Wołoska

The Late Baroque church in Tyrawa Wołoska, built in the first half of the 18th century, was already in such a bad state by the end of that century that it was not consecrated. Only renovations carried out in the 20th century restored it to its original splendour. The main, distinctly Baroque altar from 1750 with columns and statues of saints dominates the semi-circular presbytery. The nave, on the other hand, with side altars and pulpit, is enclosed by a cross vault. A wide decorative cornice runs beneath the windows, and there is a bell tower and a brick burial chapel of the Krajewski family.
