Jastkowice Reserve
An oasis of old trees and numerous birds
Jastkowice Reserve
This is one of the reserves operating within the Janów Forest Landscape Park. It covers 45 hectares of mixed coniferous and deciduous forests, which are remnants of the original Sandomierz Forest. The age of the complex is evidenced by the presence of over 200-year-old trees, including oaks and firs, and its ecological purity by the occurrence of plants on the list of protected species, including laurel, lilies and liverworts. Fungi, including large-flowered fungi, are particularly abundant. The tall, old trees are also a habitat for birds, especially owls and bats. The pure undergrowth is overrun by small mammals and snakes, including zig-zag vipers.
