The Wielki Las (Great Forest) Nature Reserve
Protection of beechwood and wildlife
The Wielki Las (Great Forest) Nature Reserve
In 1997 a reserve called Wielki Las was established near Wola Zgłobieńska. It includes the protection of almost 90 ha of forests typical of the Dynów - Strzyżów Foothills. The forest complex consists mostly of Carpathian beech, characteristic of the higher parts of the low mountains. It is also home to other mountain plants, including protected species such as the sword-leaved helleborine or the bird's-nest orchid. Bird life is particularly diverse. The black woodpecker, Ural owl and Eurasian pygmy owl can be spotted by careful observers. An educational trail leads through the reserve.
