Karpacki Bridge
Characteristic point of the city
Karpacki Bridge
The bridge and, concurrently, the dam on the Wisłok River were built in the 1970s. It consists of 4 water culverts over which 5 towers with actuators rise. It is a functional object and an example of functional architecture with simple, austere shapes. The dam regulated the course of the river and at the same time created a large lagoon to the south of the crossing, which has been colonised by wild birds and aquatic vegetation, including the rare and protected humpback gash. There is also the Lisia Góra Nature Reserve and a small bird sanctuary, Ptasia Wyspa (Bird Island), close to the bridge and reservoir.
