Tarnobrzeg Lake
Created by flooding a mining pit
Tarnobrzeg Lake
This attraction would not exist without human industrial activity. The lake was created by flooding a mining pit, whose deepest point reached 110 metres below the current water surface. Sulfur was mined there. The reservoir filling was completed in 2009, and in 2013 its name was changed from Machowski Lake to its current one, after incorporating this area into Tarnobrzeg's boundaries. The lake covers 455 hectares, with a depth of 42 metres after securing its walls. The shores have been developed for recreational purposes, including a yacht marina, a diving base, cycling and walking paths, outdoor gym, zip lines, beaches, and many other attractions.
