A Neo-Baroque temple with a defensive character

Roman Catholic Church of All Saints in Zabierzów

The original structure of the church dates back to the mid-18th century and exhibits clear Baroque characteristics. It stands on a site consecrated since 1115. Until the outbreak of World War I, the church functioned without a tower, which was added only in the 20th century. This robust Neo-Baroque structure complements the older part of the church, crowned with an ornate helmet and a pseudo-lantern. This addition gives the building a certain lightness, without losing the heaviness typical of the architectural order in which it was erected. Inside, there is a beautiful white and gold main altar, sparse polychromes, and Baroque wall stucco with numerous cornices. It is noteworthy that the church was built on a small hill and surrounded by a wall, and the building has few windows. This attests to its defensive nature, necessitated by frequent raids and invasions in earlier centuries, including Tatar and Wallachian attacks.
