Pobitno Cemetery in Rzeszów
One of the Most Interesting Cemeteries in Rzeszów
Pobitno Cemetery in Rzeszów
This is one of the most interesting cemeteries in Rzeszów, right after the Old Cemetery on Targowa Street. It delineates the city limits at the end of the 19th century, when it was established. The establishment and work associated with adapting the 7-hectare site for burial purposes took 15 years. The necropolis is the final resting place not only for ordinary citizens of Rzeszów and its surroundings, but also for notable figures such as Col. Leopold Lis-Kula or former city mayor Roman Krogulski. It is worth seeking out the collective military grave from World War I and the burial site of the Polish People's Army soldiers who died in battles against the Germans, Ukrainian partisans, and cursed soldiers between 1944 and 1956. The cemetery stands out with numerous historic and architecturally interesting tombstones and a large number of trees shading the graves.
