A forgotten gem of the Podkarpackie architecture

Lubomirski Palace in Łąka

The palace in Łąka, a village located less than 10 kilometres from Rzeszów, is a forgotten gem of the Podkarpackie architecture. The building was erected in 1568 for the wife of Krzysztof Kostka, Anna Pilecka, and then passed into the hands of the Lubomirski family, followed by the Sanguszko and Potocki families. Over the centuries, the Renaissance complex lost its stucco and other features, temporarily serving even as a cloth factory. The symmetrical three-storey building has a massive risalit with entrance doors at the front, and two corner turrets at the ends of both wings at the back. The current stucco work is modest, rather Neoclassical, encompassing pilasters on the facades and modest cornices. The building now serves as a Social Care Home for Children of the Sisters of Divine Providence Congregation.
