In memory of a martyr

Chapel of Bl. Fr. Roman Sitko in Kamionka

During World War II, millions of people were martyred in German concentration camps, some of whom were beatified as martyrs. On  June 13th, 1999, Father Roman Sitko from Czarna Sędziszowska, who died in Auschwitz in 1942, was also beatified. Shortly afterwards, a small chapel made of logs was built on the site where his family home had stood. The remains of the farm, including a well with a crane, were also preserved. A stone with an inscription recalls the birth of the Blessed. The memorial is located in the forest, west of the village of Kamionka.
