Tserkva Wola Wielka
A decaying tserkva complex
Tserkva Wola Wielka
Now devoid of a cultic character, the church is an example of a complex foundation with a wall, bell tower and cemetery. The building is characteristically shaped, and massive, with a large umbrella dome on a wide drum, and stands on a slight rise in the ground, surrounded by a stone wall. Next to it is a simply shaped bell tower with an open chamber. The interior of the church has been partially preserved after destruction and conversion to the requirements of the Roman Catholic rite; 19th- and 20th-century polychromes on the walls and vault, as well as a fragment of the iconostasis on the rood wall. Surrounding the church is a cemetery with gravestones dating back to the early 19th century, most of which with Brusno crosses.
