St. Demetrius' Church in Cewków
Listed on the Podkarpackie Wooden Architecture Trail, the church in Cewków is an unjustly forgotten object. Although it is not the oldest of its kind in the region, having been built in 1844, it displays a novel approach in shaping its volume and space. The traditional three-part layout with the women's gallery, main nave, and presbytery was redesigned so that the extreme spaces were firmly included in the structure, allowing congregated worshippers a fuller participation in the services. This was achieved, among other things, by significantly widening the drum diameter beneath the main dome, which expands the central space. The interior retains remnants of polychrome and décor. Particularly noteworthy is the skeleton of the iconostasis supported by four Ionic columns, the outline of the royal gates, and a small pulpit on the rood wall.
