Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows, Queen of the Mountains in Skalnik
Local legends say that the miraculous image of the Lady of the Mountains was brought to Skalnik by the founders of the parish, St Cyril and Methodius, but it is more likely that it was brought to the village in the 15th century. This does not change the fact that the parish and sanctuary are old, dating from that very century. The present shrine dates from the early 20th century, but some of the altar furnishings date back to the 16th century. The cult of the Virgin of Skalnik has existed for a long time, with varying intensity, and it is particularly noticeable after 1939.
