The light of history and glass art

Podkarpackie Museum in Krosno

Krosno is one of the largest and oldest centres of the Podkarpackie region, so it is not surprising that the Podkarpackie Museum is located there. The museum's departments, covering not only the typical archaeological-historical set but also the history of lighting, the history of glass, and the glass industry, are housed in the large building of a former bishop's palace. They commemorate the heritage of Podkarpackie as the birthplace of the oil industry and one of Poland's centres for glass production. The collection of candle holders, oil lamps, and early electric lamps housed here is a gem of the Museum and something definitely worth seeing. Of course, temporary exhibitions are also created here, e.g., of Japanese art and weapons.
