Neo-Gothic in all its beauty

Church of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bóbrka

Although the sacral architecture of the Podkarpackie region is dominated by the Baroque and the Orthodox church style, there are also churches built in other architectural styles. A beautiful example is a neo-Gothic church in Bóbrka, erected in the early 20th century. Its massive body made of un-plastered brick and its soaring tower and the signature tower with numerous pinnacles and tall, narrow windows is a real eye-catcher. The interior is entirely covered in polychrome, the cross-ribbed vaulting of the nave, supported by columns and half-columns, is blue, and the walls are decorated with floral and geometric paintings. In the chancel, the large stained-glass windows, which are also part of the main altar, and the elaborate pulpit with its Gothic canopy draw attention.
