A haven of primaeval nature

Sandomierz Forest

Between Sandomierz, Sokołow Małopolski and Mielec, a forest complex known as the Sandomierz Forest stretches. Although it is a small remnant of the primaeval forests stretching from Kraków to Lwów, it is still one of the largest forest areas in Poland, with a rich ecosystem. It is home to forest animals and plants of rare species. The forest itself is often a place where dying populations are reborn. Historically, the forest was the border between Polish and Ruthenian ethnic groups.
