Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation in Leżajsk

The sanctuary complex, run by the Bernardine Order, was built in the 17th century and consists of a church, a monastery, a cemetery, fortified walls in a bastion system and a grange. The Baroque temple protects the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary of Consolation. It is not only its beautiful, massive three-nave body decorated with turrets that arouse admiration, but also the interior, which is decorated primarily with dark wood and gold, which looks like it is almost dripping from the altars. One can also admire the rich polychrome paintings on the walls and vaults, the numerous stone and wood carvings, as well as the majestic organ, one of the most valuable in Europe. What is interesting is that it can be played by 3 organists at the same time! Lovers of military equipment will appreciate the state of preservation of the ramparts.
