The landscape of the confluence of rivers

San in Ulanów

In Galician Gdańs, Ulanów, the largest number of rafts and galleys in Poland, were built until the 20th century. The San, and also the Tanew Rivers flowing into it here, fed the whole town. The San riverbed is about 110 m wide near Ulanów, and 120 m behind the mouth of the Tanew. A calm current washes the gentle banks, overgrown with grass, bushes and trees. The landscape is idyllic and breathes tranquillity. Anglers, and the occasional passing rafters from the Bractwo Flisackie (The Rafting Brotherhood), complete the picture, at the same time transporting the observer to a not-so-distant past.
