Piskorowice, Greek Catholic Chapel of St. John the Evangelist

Greek Catholic chapels are rather rare in the Podkarpackie region, mainly due to the fact that until the "Vistula" operation and the displacement of the Ruthenian population, this faith was, if not dominant, at least equal to Roman Catholicism. The Chapel of St. John the Evangelist was built on the ruins of a church from 1842, which was burned down in 1942 during an attack by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army on the village. The construction of the chapel, maintained in the church style, with a distinct dome and built on the plan of a Greek cross, is credited to Roman Bazylewicz, an American of local descent. He wanted to honor the Ukrainian victims of World War II in this way, especially the burning of the village in the aforementioned attack from October 5 to 6, 1942.
