(Not) the oldest tserkva in Poland

Greek Catholic tserkva of the Ascension of the Lord in Ulucz

Until recently, it was thought to be the oldest Orthodox church in Poland, said to date from 1510, but it was built in 1659. It is a typical Beskid's church of the defensive structure; low and squat, with small windows and surrounded by a double ring of walls. The structure is classical, and tripartite, but is distinguished by a huge dome over the nave. On the side of the women's gallery, there are wide shelters called Sobotki, allowing pilgrims to spend the night. Inside, preserved polychromes and an iconostasis with five rows of paintings. Surrounding the building is a cemetery with gravestones and memorial plaques.
