He left everything behind and went to Bieszczady

Gallery at Żmij in Wojtkowa

Sometimes we dream of throwing everything away and going to Bieszczady, but few actually decide to do so. Andrzej Borowski aka Żmij did it over 50 years ago and now lives the life of an artist, painting primarily animals. He calls himself an animalist painter. Żmij lives in Wojtkowa, near Arłamów and Chwaniów Nature Reserve. The atmospheric rooms house many paintings and drawings of wild animals, mainly lynxes and wolves, which fascinate the artist. He himself is also an extraordinary and characteristic figure - passing through the village, it is very likely that you will meet him in his typical outfit, with a hat and cowboy boots.
