A marvel of great and small architecture

A bright brick church with a red roof and turrets and an entrance gate with ornaments and statues of saints

Church of St Lawrence in Dynów

Even the entrance to the church grounds is awe-inspiring; the three-arcade that guards it is a masterpiece of late 17th-century small-scale architecture and decorative art. The temple was built similarly between 1604 and 1617, although it was later modified. The relatively slender mass is widened by massive buttresses at the main entrance, with an ornate portico. The interior impresses with its Baroque-Rococo elements, the main altar with the figure of Christ crucified in the central field and the side chapels with paintings of Our Lady of Dynów and St Lawrence. It is also worth paying attention to the beautiful patron benches in the presbytery, a masterpiece of woodcarving art.
