Great art in the capital of wickerwork

A wicker sculpture at the market square in Rudnik nad Sanem

Several sculptures standing in the market square of Rudnik nad Sanem are part of an exhibition of more than 20 pieces that point to the wickerwork traditions of the town. Sculptures were designed by artists from Poland and around the world, and the execution fell to local masters. In the area around the town centre, visitors can admire constructions inspired by folk art, such as the cockerel at the eastern frontage; international art such as the theatre mask at the northern frontage, or geometric `igures. A highlight of the collection is the “Hrabia” dragon, named after Ferdinand Hompesch, who developed the town in the 19th century using wickerwork.
