Short routes in Podkarpackie
To avoid spending the entire weekend at home, it is worth getting some exercise and fresh air during a bike trip. We have a few interesting suggestions for short, several-hour excursions.
Across the plains of Roztocze – a loop from Cieszanów
Let us start with a route that is only 16 kilometres long. It leads through the southern regions of Cieszanów, or rather the fields and meadows between Cieszanów and Dachnów. It is a charming and peaceful route, where you will undoubtedly manage to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city or the fast pace of life.
Along the banks of the Wisłok
This route is 17 kilometres long. That is not much, after all. It leads along both banks of Rzeszów's main river – the Wisłok, from the Lisia Góra Reserve on the western bank and the Drabinianka housing estate on the eastern bank to the Lwowski Bridge. You will pass through charming riverside areas, including well-developed boulevards, passing residential buildings and monuments: the Lubomirski Castle, the Old Cemetery on Targowa Street, and modern, attractive facilities, like the Podpromie sports hall, the "Stal" City Stadium, or the Carpathian Bridge, connected to the dam and hydroelectric power plant.
To the Zabłocie Nature Reserve
This route is 18 kilometres through the forests between the villages of Bratkowice, Czarna Sędziszowska, and Poręby Kupieńskie. You will pass through calm forest thickets, along various clearings, to reach a spot from where the wild animal life, mainly birds, in the Zabłocie Reserve near Czarna Sędziszowska, is perfectly visible. Up to 30 species that dwell here are threatened with extinction.
Through villages along the San river
20 kilometres of relatively flat terrain, with good navigation and our description, is a pleasure, not a challenge. It leads from the old town of Dubiecko, through villages in the bend of the San River. You will find interesting places and monuments here, such as a nineteenth-century Neo-Gothic granary, the Kozigarb and Broduszurki nature reserves, and, in the end, it is worth visiting the Fossil and Mineral Museum in Dubiecko and the Borderland House of Art in the former Greek Catholic church.
Red trail to Chryszczata
Here we propose 22 kilometres through difficult and demanding terrain. The soft game is over, the challenges have begun. The route leads from the village of Mików to the peak of Chryszczata. Not only is it a significant challenge – you will reach the highest point at 937 metres above sea level – but the area is also historically marked. It was crossed by war fronts, including World War I, after which numerous known and unknown soldier graves remained here. Riding here will often require getting off the bike and overcoming unexpected obstacles – think of the people who fought here – but also concentrating.
